Lunchtime Lecture: Anna Maria Garthwaite
Victoria and Albert Museum · Cromwell Rd, London SW7 2RL
25 June 2026
Anna Maria Garthwaite transformed 18th-century Spitalfields silk by introducing the logic of painting into the loom — producing some of the most celebrated British textiles of her era from her studio on Princelet Street. Dr Silvija Banić presents a lunchtime lecture at the V&A to mark a new acquisition: the loom's legacy, returned to the room.
